Thursday notes 11/6/25

FOOD BANKS: Many people are suffering during the government furlough and need food. We are currently partnering with NETS and The Old Durham Church in Welcome Maryland. Sadly, the food bank in Indian Head closed due to lack of need (possibly in that area – I am not sure). On the table in the narthex is a list of Food Banks.

We will be collecting for Thanksgiving Baskets so please place any nonperishable food items in the plastic baskets in the narthex of the church. Think Thanksgiving Dinner and what you would serve. (Stuffing, boxed scalloped potatoes, canned green beans, canned corn, cranberry sauce, canned gravy or dry packets, boxed biscuit/rolls, canned sweet potatoes, cake/dessert mixes, boxed jasmine/yellow rice, the list goes on….) Please make sure that any items you place in the baskets are nonperishable. Thank you

Shoe box idea Diane Bicknell wanted us to add this for the shoe boxes. For the Christmas boxes for children in need, there is an organization that makes sandals that are very adjustable for this very purpose! I bought 2 pairs for the Christmas boxes I filled last year and was very pleased with these sandals. Here: becauseinternational.org

Please share this so that anyone who is filling these Christmas boxes who wants to put these sandals in for the children has this opportunity to order these before it is too late!❤️✝️🦶Diane

Prayerfully it will be here at LCOOS in December on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, December 4th, 5th, and 6th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. Karen Malkin would like us to save any pumpkins/Jack-O-Lanterns for her animals. They love them and look forward to the treat every year. Please just leave them out by the shed/recycle bin where the black bin with the yellow top is and Karen will pick them up. Thank you.
